Teeth Whitening

When you visit a dentist for a custom teeth whitening kit, the teeth impressions taken are sent to a dental laboratory like us! Our Smileflex dental technicians create your custom whitening trays the same as they would for a dentist. We also use the same active ingredients in our whitening gel that dentists use.

Generally, anyone with healthy gums and teeth that is looking to brighten their smile can benefit from our dental grade teeth whitening system. Our product has proven to be highly effective at removing stains from teeth including coffee, tea, wine, tobacco, tetracycline, and various other tooth stains.

Note: Consult your dentist prior to using any teeth whitening product for longer than 14 days. Not intended for anyone under the age of 18, or women who are pregnant or nursing.

Yes but keep in mind, artificial dental work will not whiten. They are colour matched at the time they are created and do not have pores. The colour of your dental work cannot be changed (unless it is replaced).

Teeth whitening will not whiten or damage artificial dental work including crowns, veneers, bridges, permanent retainers, bonding, caps or fillings, nor will it damage your enamel.

Natural teeth have pores which allow teeth whitening to absorb and remove stains. Artificial dental work is colour matched at the time they are created and do not have pores. The colour of your dental work cannot be changed (unless it is replaced).

Note: Dentists recommend that anyone planning to whiten their teeth and have artificial work done, do the whitening prior. This way the restoration work will be matched to your whitest possible natural tooth colour.

Yes! Not only are our whitening products safe, but our formula contains the same active ingredients used by cosmetic dentists in-chair. In fact, it's the only formula they recommend despite what PAP and PAP+ teeth whitening companies try to claim.

Together with your custom-fitted trays that come with every whitening kit, our treatment is safe to use in the comfort of your home.

Do not use any teeth whitening product if you are pregnant or nursing. Conclusive research has not yet been done on the safety of teeth whitening while pregnant or nursing.

Glycerin, Water, Hydrogen Peroxide (6%), Propylene Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Citrate, Menthol, Sodium Phytate, Carob Gum, Salicylic Acid, Sodium Silicate, Xylitol, Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate.

All teeth whitening work by absorbing into pores on the tooth surface. The active whitening agent in our dental grade formula is Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2), a naturally occurring compound which breaks down readily into water (H2O) and a single oxygen molecule (O). This single oxygen molecule is a strong oxidising and disinfecting agent, and is what gives Hydrogen Peroxide such effective whitening properties.

Teeth whitening is only achieved with either Hydrogen Peroxide (HP) or Carbamide Peroxide (CP) and requires custom-fitted trays to use. HP and CP produce the same results, however HP whitens 3x faster and requires 3x less strength to that of CP to achieve the same results. This is because of the time needed for the CP to break down into HP first.

While formulas found in LED whitening kits such as PAP and PAP+, are merely a temporary teeth "lightening" effect by dehydrating teeth rather than whitening and removing tooth stains. In the dental industry we call this "rebound" and people using those products find once their dehydrated teeth return to health 3–4 weeks later, their original tooth stains reappear (as they were never removed).

With all factors considered, it's why Smileflex chooses Hydrogen Peroxide as its active whitening agent to achieve the best and longest lasting professional results.

All teeth whitening products work by absorbing into pores on the tooth surface, but the key to truly professional results are the custom-fitted trays. These trays allow you to use our Hydrogen Peroxide formula, the most effective whitening formula offered by cosmetic dentists. The trays also ensure that every angle of every tooth receives even and consistent coverage of whitening gel regardless of how straight your teeth are!

Please note: Our dental grade formula cannot be used in generic LED mouth trays. Therefore, those products can only offer PAP or PAP+ formulas, an abrasive gel that dehydrates your teeth as a temporary teeth "lightening" effect. The mouth trays use simple LED bulbs that create a blue coloured light. This is not UV light! This gimmick has zero impact on the teeth whitening process.

Yes! Our whitening gel and desensitising gel can be purchased separately as gel refills without custom trays.

Please note: Custom-fitted trays are required for the use of our dental grade whitening formula. Products such as aligners (Invisalign), retainers, mouthguards, night guards and LED mouth trays will not work in place of custom trays. If you don't already have custom trays, check out our full range of custom whitening kits.

A teeth whitening box contains 3 gel syringes to give you a total of at least 9 treatments.

Each gel syringe (3ml) delivers 3-5 applications (both top and bottom teeth), depending on the size and number of teeth.

This will vary on the size and number of teeth, but you should use no more than 0.5ml of gel per tray per treatment.

For each treatment, whiten your teeth for 30–60 minutes once daily for desired results, but do not exceed 90 minutes.

Use for 9 treatments or until gel runs out. Consult your dentist before using this product for more than 14 days.

You should start to see results after your first treatment! Your teeth will continue to whiten through each treatment, and even for a number of days after completion as the gel continues to work in your tooth's pores.

Every person will see whiter results but how much will depend on each person's unique situation including how white their natural tooth colour is. However, most people will see their whitest natural tooth colour, usually 2–6 shades whiter.

Yes! Our product has proven to be highly effective at removing stains from teeth including coffee, tea, wine, tobacco, tetracycline, and various other tooth stains.

This will depend on each person's diet (including foods and drinks such as coffee, wine, beetroot etc.) and oral hygiene to prevent re-staining. You should expect the teeth whitening to last up to 12 months, but with a good diet and oral hygiene, you can expect results to last longer.

Each gel syringe is individually sealed for freshness. The gel has a shelf life of 2 years and once the cap is removed, the gel will remain effective for up to 12 months if stored correctly.

Avoid exposure to sunlight and heat. Store at controlled room temperature 15°C–25°C (59°F–77°F). Do not refrigerate or freeze.

Our custom-fitted whitening trays are created from a non-toxic soft EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate) material.

Yes! The materials used to create our teeth whitening trays are not made with Latex, do not contain DEHP (or other Phthalates), or Bisphenol A (BPA) and are gluten free.

Your teeth whitening trays are custom-fitted perfectly to fit only your teeth! They are made from a thin, soft material that is virtual unnoticeable. You'll be able to speak freely and the trays will not fall out as you open/close your mouth.

Desensitising Gel

Our desensitising gel is formulated to treat tooth sensitivity caused by whitening and prevent re-staining in the process. It can also be used for people with general tooth sensitivity as it rejuvenates, strengthens and desensitises enamel after treatment.

Your teeth's dentine contains thousands of microscopic tubules, or channels, that lead to the pulp. When exposed to the elements, these channels allow hot, cold, acidic or even sticky substances to reach the nerves, causing pain.

Yes! On the Desensitising Gels product page you'll find a custom-fitted trays kit option above the "Add to cart" button. Select this option to have custom trays included in your order.

Potassium Nitrate, Sodium Fluoride, Carbomer, Poloxamer 407, Propylene Glycol, Deionized Water, Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), Menthol.

Our formula is powered with Potassium Nitrate, the most superior desensitising agent in relieving dental hypersensitivity. It provides a film-like varnish for sensitive teeth, sealing those channels of exposed dentine and other areas where sensitivity is a concern.

A desensitising gel box contains 3 gel syringes to give you a total of at least 9 treatments.

Each gel syringe (3ml) delivers 3-5 applications (both top and bottom teeth), depending on the size and number of teeth.

This will vary on the size and number of teeth, but you should use no more than 0.5ml of gel per tray per treatment.

For each treatment, desensitise your teeth for 30–60 minutes as tooth sensitivity requires, and no more than twice daily.

Use for 9 treatments or until gel runs out. Consult your dentist before using this product for
more than 14 days.

Each gel syringe is individually sealed for freshness. The gel has a shelf life of 2 years and once the cap is removed, the gel will remain effective for up to 12 months if stored correctly.

Sports Mouthguards

A custom mouthguard is a thermoformed device created specifically to fit your mouth. They are worn to help cushion contact to the face during sport, and to minimise the risk of teeth and facial damage.

A truly custom-fitted mouthguard fits better than the cheap "boil and bite" type sold at chemists, giving yourself the best possible protection. An added benefit is they can be customised in many different colour designs!

Ours are higher quality. Our professional dental studio uses industry leading equipment, materials, and processes to create our Smileflex custom mouthguards.

By laminating an extra layer of Briteguard® soft EVA—which has been considered Australia's leader in mouthguard material for over 30 years—our custom mouthguards will protect you with incredible tensile strength and durability. We finish the coloured outside layer polished and bright, while the extra inside layer provides a more adapted fit and increased protection.

Yes. With an order of the Smileflex™ Junior Sports Mouthguard, the impression kit includes child-size trays only.

Our mouthguards are created from a non-toxic soft EVA (Ethylene-vinyl acetate) material. For added strength and durability we use Flex Protection™ for our Elite and Pro mouthguards.

Yes! The materials used to create our mouthguards are non-toxic and not made with Latex, do not contain DEHP (or other Phthalates), or Bisphenol A (BPA), and are monomer and gluten free.

With 20 individual colours available as single, dual and tri designs, we did the math and you can customise up to 4,010 unique colour designs! Select from a range of single colours and sporting teams, or get your game on and make your own custom colour design!

Absolutely not. Although mouthguards are custom-fitted to the mouth, they are cut differently and are not made with a spacer on the front side of the teeth to allow for gel. Mouthguards are made to fit close to the teeth and gums, and using it as a whitening tray would push the gel out into the mouth.

We recommend using Polident Daily Cleanser tablets. They will remove 99.9% of odour-causing bacteria, help to remove tough stains and reduce plaque build-up. They can be bought from the following retailers: Chemist Warehouse, Amcal, Priceline, Woolworths and Coles.

Tip: We'll provide a complimentary sample of these tablets with your order.

Night Guards

A custom night guard is a thermoformed device created specifically to fit your mouth. Most sufferers of bruxism (teeth grinding/clenching) usually need to wear one during their sleep, however they can be worn during the day too.

A truly custom-fitted night guard ensures a perfect fit without falling out or rubbing against gums and cheeks. They create a cushion on the bite surface, eliminating all tooth on tooth contact as well as reducing jaw and tooth soreness.

Teeth grinding (bruxism) can have long-term damaging effects on the overall health of your teeth. The grinding and clenching motion wears down the teeth making them smaller and permanently sensitive. It also destroys enamel which makes teeth more prone to cavities.

Aside from tooth damage, bruxism can cause jaw pain and popping, neck pain, headaches, earaches and disruption of sleep.

Ours are higher quality. Our professional dental studio uses industry leading equipment, materials, and processes to create our Smileflex custom night guards.

Yes! Our night guards are comfortable meaning you can also wear them during the day to help with bruxism.

However, our Smileflex™ Day Guard+ is best suited for clenching during the day thanks to its slim design allowing you to speak freely.

There are many reasons to consider ordering more than one night guard, including:

  • Keeping a spare in case of losing one
  • Different colour options for some fun
  • For travel or multiple living locations
  • A replacement for typical wear and tear

By ordering more than one guard now, you'll simply save time and money
on future treatment! We highly recommend heavy grinders to consider the multi options.

The longevity of your night guard will depend on the severity of your bruxism and how well the guard is maintained. Our night guards will last years for moderate bruxism, however it's possible to wear out faster from heavier use.

The short answer is no. It's important to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of your products. Frequent eating and drinking while wearing dental products can cause them to stain and degrade over time.

Yes! Night guards are usually made to fit the upper jaw, however we understand some people prefer them for their lower jaw instead. On the Smileflex™ Night Guard+ product page you'll find a lower jaw option above the "Add to cart" button. Select this option to have our Smileflex technicians create your night guard for your lower jaw instead.

Absolutely not. Although grinding guards are custom-fitted to the mouth, they are cut differently and are not made with a spacer on the front side of the teeth to allow for gel. Grinding guards are made to fit close to the teeth and gums, and using it as a whitening tray would push the gel out into the mouth.

They are different products. An anti-snoring device with bite pads will act like a night guard, but a night guard will not help with snoring. Currently, we do not offer anti-snoring devices but they will become available as we expand our product range in the future.

The Night Guard+ is created with a dual layer design, forming two separate layers of material under heat and pressure. The soft inside layer is made from soft polyurethane (TPU) to provide a more adapted and comfortable fit. While the harder outside layer is made from copolyester (PETG), a remarkably strong and durable material that protects your teeth against bruxism.

Yes! The materials used to create the Night Guard+ are non-toxic and not made with Latex, do not contain DEHP (or other Phthalates), or Bisphenol A (BPA), and are monomer and gluten free.

Day Guards

A custom day guard is a thermoformed device created specifically to fit your mouth. Some sufferers of bruxism (teeth grinding/clenching) need to wear one during the day as well as a thicker design night guard during sleep.

A truly custom-fitted day guard ensures a perfect fit without falling out or rubbing against gums and cheeks. They create a cushion on the bite surface, eliminating all tooth on tooth contact as well as reducing jaw and tooth soreness.

Ours are higher quality. Our professional dental studio uses industry leading equipment, materials, and processes to create our Smileflex custom day guards.

Our day guard is best suited for the day thanks to its slim design allowing you to speak freely, while our night guard is best to be worn during the night due to its more durable design to protect your teeth against bruxism while sleeping.

  • Different colour options for some fun
  • For travel or multiple living locations
  • A replacement for typical wear and tear

Comfort Guards

A custom comfort guard is a thermoformed device created specifically to fit your mouth. Most sufferers of bruxism (teeth grinding/clenching) usually need to wear one during their sleep, however they can be worn during the day too.

A truly custom-fitted comfort guard ensures a perfect fit without falling out or rubbing against gums and cheeks. They create a cushion on the bite surface, eliminating all tooth on tooth contact as well as reducing jaw and tooth soreness.

Ours are higher quality. Our professional dental studio uses industry leading equipment, materials, and processes to create our Smileflex custom comfort guards.

Our comfort guard is made entirely from a soft material to be the perfect solution if you've never worn a grinding guard before or suffer from tooth sensitivity. Our night guards on the other hand are slightly thicker and more durable due to their soft/hard dual-layer design.

There are many reasons to consider ordering more than one comfort guard, including:

  • Keeping a spare in case of losing one
  • For travel or multiple living locations
  • A replacement for typical wear and tear

By ordering more than one guard now, you'll simply save time and money on future treatment! We highly recommend heavy grinders to consider the multi option.

Retainers

A custom retainer is a thermoformed device created specifically to fit your mouth and is worn to continue to keep teeth straight after braces or other orthodontic treatment such as aligners. People prefer clear retainers because they find them to be more comfortable than traditional ones that have wires.

After your braces are removed, teeth have the tendency to move back towards their previous position because the ligaments attached need time to heal. A custom retainer prevents the elasticity of the ligaments from moving your teeth, and allows time for your jaw bones to solidify around them.

Ours are higher quality. Our professional dental studio uses industry leading equipment, materials, and processes to create our Smileflex custom retainers.

Retainers are a different product to aligners (Invisalign). Retainers continue to keep teeth in alignment after orthodontic treatment, while aligners are used as an alternative to braces.

Both retainer products are made from copolyester, however, the density of the materials are different. Our Invisible Retainer Pro™ is recommended for day use as the material is slightly more flexible, making it durable and easy to insert and remove frequently throughout the day for eating, drinking, speaking, etc. Our 2inONE Night Retainer™ on the other hand, is slightly more dense to withstand any clenching and grinding forces during your sleep.

It's recommended by orthodontists to wear retainers at least 12 hours every day for the first 8 weeks following the completion of your orthodontic treatment. Thereafter, and approval from your orthodontist, you can begin wearing retainers at night only for at least a year. Wearing them more often is never a bad idea, as long as you take them out to eat and clean regularly.

If you find your retainers feel tight when putting them on, it can be a sign that your teeth are shifting while your retainers are out, and you might need to start wearing them more frequently. It's also recommended by orthodontists to continue to wear retainers once or twice a week while sleeping for the rest of your life.

The short answer is no. It's important to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of your products. Frequent eating and drinking while wearing dental products can cause them to stain and degrade over time.

Absolutely not. Although retainers are custom-fitted to the mouth, they are cut differently and are not made with a spacer on the front side of the teeth to allow for gel. Retainers are made to fit close to the teeth and gums, and using them as whitening trays would push the gel out of the tray into the mouth.

Both the Invisible Retainer Pro™ and 2inONE Night Retainer™ are created from copolyester (PETG), a remarkably strong and durable material that will keep your teeth from moving.

Yes! The material used to create both the Invisible Retainer Pro™ and 2inONE Night Retainer™ is non-toxic and not made with Latex, does not contain DEHP (or other Phthalates), or Bisphenol A (BPA), and is monomer and gluten free.

2000: DO NOT HONOUR — The customer's bank is unwilling to accept the transaction. The customer will need to contact their bank for more details regarding this generic decline.

2007: NO ACCOUNT — The submitted card number is not on file with the card-issuing bank. The customer will need to contact their bank.

2010: CARD ISSUER DECLINED CVV — The customer entered an invalid security code or made a typo in their card information. The customer should attempt the transaction again. If the decline persists, the customer will need to contact their bank.

2015: TRANSACTION NOT ALLOWED — The customer's bank is declining the transaction for unspecified reasons, possibly due to an issue with the card itself. The customer will need to contact their bank or use a different payment method.
