    Dental Grade Gel Formula

    Minimum sensitivity, maximum strength. The Smileflex formula is powered with Potassium Nitrate, the most superior desensitising agent in relieving dental hypersensitivity. Protecting the nerve from external stimuli, it has been scientifically proven to repair and strengthen teeth. Use after teeth whitening treatment or for every day general sensitivity, our safe and effective formula will soothe your teeth and ensure they remain protected.

    Causes of Tooth Sensitivity

    Make sense of sensitivity. It's a familiar feeling when encountering certain foods and temperatures that involve pain or discomfort. Your teeth's dentine contains thousands of microscopic tubules, or channels, that lead to the pulp. When exposed to the elements, these channels allow hot, cold, acidic or even sticky substances to reach the nerves, causing pain.
    Some factors that contribute to sensitive teeth may include:
    All teeth whitening
    It's common for some people to feel sensitivity a few hours after any whitening treatment—that's just the whitening agent finally reaching nerves in the pulp. It's completely harmless and shortly goes away.
    Hard impact
    This includes biting on hard candy and ice, or grinding your teeth. Cracks expose the nerve endings in tooth pulp, which cause discomfort when they come into contact with your opposing teeth, food and bacteria.
    Receding gums
    Unfortunately this happens naturally with age—gums recede and expose the previously protected dentine.
    Brushing too hard
    The easiest way to damage your enamel is with harsh bristles that cause abrasion. Try to brush gently in a circular motion.
    Acidic foods and mouthwash
    The acidity burns down enamel, and mouthwashes can further enrage sensitivity.
    Too much soda
    The sugary by-products will degrade enamel by softening it, leaving it vulnerable. Low-sugar soda helps but is still very acidic.

    Treatment For Tooth Sensitivity

    Effective and efficient. Research and consumer feedback indicate desensitising gel is the most effective treatment for sensitive teeth. In the process, teeth are also strengthened and increase resistance to acidic foods and bacteria. Together with the Smileflex desensitising gel, any of the following are recommended:
    Use sensitive toothpaste
    This type of toothpaste has ingredients specifically designed to fill the exposed tubules in the dentine.
    Brush softer
    Use a soft-bristled toothbrush at least twice a day and replace every 3 months.
    Clean teeth after eating
    It is important to remove bacteria that might otherwise settle and corrode enamel. Cleaning your teeth might include gentle brushing, flossing or simply swishing water around for a few seconds.
    Avoid clamping
    Eat less hard foods and avoid grinding your teeth. Many people grind unconsciously when they're sleeping and the best treatment for the pain is a Smileflex night guard.
